& KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR 2012-2013

Registration for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will begin on the same date as registration for all other grade levels, July 23, 2012.  Our district is facing serious budget challenges and intends to submit the 2012-2013 budget to the School Board for approval at its meeting on June 6, 2012.  After the budget is approved, district personnel will know exactly how many Pre-K classes can be offered and can provide the public accurate information before registration  begins. The Jefferson Parish Public Schools website www.jppss.k12.la.us will contain such information shortly  after June 6^th regarding the various locations throughout the district where Pre-K registration will be held beginning July 23^rd.  Each elementary school will also have such information.

Although it is the last month of school, we are still working hard here at school.  Please make sure that that homework is being done every night.  Students still need all of the necessary school supplies to finish the school year strong!

There is something new this year that will be sent home with every student to encourage summer reading.  Every student will receive a summer reading book and assignment.  The book will be for your student to keep and the assignment will be returned to school at the beginning of the school year.  I encourage all parents to come out for LITERACY NIGHT on May 16^th at 6:00 p.m.  I will present more information in regards to Summer Reading and we will have the Jefferson Parish Library available to sign up for library cards. 

The last day of school, May 23^rd, is a ½ day of school - dismissal will be at 12:10 p.m.  Attendance at school is very important and will be counted through the last day of school.  We need all students to be here everyday!  Report cards will be mailed home again this year.  The school office will be open from 8am-3pm until June 13^th.

I would like to take this time to thank you all for your support with my first year as your new principal.  I have enjoyed this year.  Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me and I look forward to next school year!  Have a “Bucket Filling” Summer ☺
